DermaSilk Therapeutic Clothing is made of knitted natural silk which has been stripped of its outer coating and bonded with Microbe Shield technology. It is far superior to cotton because it retains up to 30 % of its own weight in moisture without feeling damp.

DermaSilk is unique in that it maintains a stable moisture balance on the skin whether its worn on warm or cold days. All the underwear in the DermaSilk range is capable of absorbing moisture without causing irritation to the skin. Used as part of the normal treatment programme, DermaSilk helps reduce the terrible 'itch -scratch cycle' .

Silk is one of the oldest fabrics in the world and this specially treated version allows free movement of air through the fabric, allowing the skin to breathe and promoting better healing properties. This soft and luxurious range of underwear, becomes like a ' second skin ' thus reducing the potential for surface friction to a minimum.

DermaSilk is specially bonded with an antimicrobial shield which has been used in hospitals for over 20 years. Its use in operating theatre fabrics has proved its ability to inhibit bacterial and fungal growth on fabric. DermaSilk fabric is therefore ideal for use in the treatment of aggravated skin conditions.

The possibility of bacterial resistance developing is limited because the shield physically damages the microbe cell walls rather than killing them by chemical means.

The antimicrobial is colourless and odourless and because the DermaSilk range of underwear has been designed for frequent washing, it is still highly effective even after 50 washes.
